Closed-cell foam X-ray positioning pads are a specialised medical imaging accessory designed to keep patients stable and comfortable while maintaining precise anatomical alignment during radiographic procedures.
- Unlike standard open-cell sponges, which have interconnected pores that act like a sponge (absorbing fluids), closed-cell foam is composed of microscopic, independent bubbles that are completely sealed off from one another.
Key Characteristics
Fluid Resistance & Hygiene: Because the cells are sealed, the material is inherently non-porous. It does not absorb blood, contrast media, or bodily fluids. This makes the pads 100% wipeable and easy to disinfect with standard hospital-grade cleaners, significantly reducing the risk of cross-contamination.
