SureMark VisionLine Skin Markers are radiopaque markers designed to be placed on a patient’s skin so that a specific point, area, scar, lump, or other feature is clearly identifiable on the resulting medical image.

They are particularly useful in CT, X-ray and other radiographic imaging where the clinician needs to correlate something visible or palpable on the patient with the underlying anatomy.

Typical purposes include:

  • Localising a palpable abnormality – marking a lump, area of pain, swelling, or other point of clinical interest.
  • Identifying scars or surgical sites – the VisionLine can be placed along a scar or other linear feature so its position can be seen on the image.
  • Defining an area of interest – rather than identifying a single point, the flexible line can outline or follow an anatomical feature.
  • Improving image interpretation – gives the radiologist a clear reference showing exactly where the patient or referring clinician has identified the area of concern.
  • Providing external-to-internal correlation – particularly useful in CT, where the marker's position on the skin can be related to structures beneath it.

The VisionLine format is useful because it provides a continuous radiopaque line rather than just a single dot or point. This makes it particularly suitable for marking scars, veins, areas of pain, masses, or the boundaries of an area of interest.
