Radiation safety posters for your department
Seven print-ready posters on wearing and storing protective garments, why distance matters and which organs are most at risk. Free to download in A4 and A3.
Please read the important information and check with your Radiation Protection Adviser before displaying any poster.
Before you display these posters
- Speak to your Radiation Protection Adviser first. Check each poster with your RPA and Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS). They will confirm it suits your area and is consistent with your local rules, risk assessments and procedures, and with the regulations that apply to you (in the UK, the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 and IR(ME)R 2017).
- General awareness only. The posters are educational aids. They do not replace formal radiation protection training, professional advice, your local rules or the manufacturer’s instructions for use.
- Figures are illustrative. Risk ratings, dose values and diagrams are simplified. Actual exposure depends on equipment, technique, workload, shielding and where you stand, and should be assessed by your RPA.
- Garments must be correctly selected, fitted and checked. The fit points shown are general guidance. Selection, lead equivalence and integrity checks should follow your department’s procedures.
- Third-party content is credited on the poster where used. Guidance changes over time, so please download the latest version from this page.
The posters are provided free of charge and “as is”. Rothband (WSR Medical Solutions Ltd) accepts no responsibility for any decision or action taken on the basis of them. You may print and display them within your organisation for non-commercial staff awareness; please do not alter, rebrand or sell them.
Choose your posters
Each poster is a single-page PDF. A4 suits noticeboards; A3 suits walls, changing rooms and control areas.
All seven posters
One PDF with every poster, ready to print as a set for a new department or a refresh of your noticeboards.
Printing tips
- Print at 100% or actual size, not “fit to page”.
- Office printers leave a small white edge. The posters are designed with that in mind.
- For a longer-lasting poster, use 160–200 gsm silk or matt paper, or laminate it so it can be wiped clean in clinical areas.
- Print in colour. Colour shows risk levels and correct and incorrect examples.
Arrange an X-ray awareness workshop
