Through dialogues with healthcare experts and a deep comprehension of the challenges tied to the ergonomics of certain procedures, we recognised the potential risk associated with axilla exposure, which might subject clinicians to increased radiation doses in this vulnerable region.
Whilst a standard approach to protecting this area has been the addition of sleeves, we recognised (through consultation) that the additional weight this placed on the upper arm could be a source of fatigue, so we were keen to develop something that would focus on the underarm protection in a way that would move with the wearer to ensure the protection is always in place.
